Tefal Smart Protect Iron Review

The Tefal Smart Protect Iron is a high performance steam iron. It features only one temperature setting, automatically adjusting based on the fabric being ironed. Together with the smart protection feature which ensures that all ironable fabrics aren't burnt, the Smart Protect Iron is an extremely convenient appliance. A consequence of these features is that you no longer have to pre-sort your washing into piles before ironing.

The iron uses Tefal's Durilium Airglide soleplate. It has specially placed steam holes at the tip, sides and centre in order to provide an even distribution of steam, making the iron consistent. The soleplate is also scratch-resistant and has a precision tip to allow for easy navigation around buttons, pockets and zips.

• Soleplate - The soleplate is a Tefal Durilium Airglide model. It facilitates a fast and smooth glide, and achieves excellent results through the use of an even distribution of steam.
• One Temperature - The iron automatically handles temperature control, meaning no adjustment is needed. As mentioned above, there's also no need to pre-sort laundry beforehand which is a massive time saver. It also makes the iron extremely simple to use. Suitable fabrics include anything from silk to denim jeans.
• Smart Protect - The in-built smart protection system ensures that ironable fabrics are not burnt.
• High Performance - The iron operates at 2600W of power, and outputs steam at a continuous rate of 40g per minute. This is sufficient for most creases. For tougher creases, there's a steam boost which increases the rate to 180g per minute. This is also suitable for vertical steaming.
• Vertical Steam - The iron is capable of operating vertically, which is particularly useful for hanging suits, bed sheets, etc. It can also be used for freshening up curtains.
• Anti-Drip - The iron is designed to protect against excess dripping, therefore reducing the common problem of water marks.
• Eco Mode - The iron's Eco Mode results in an up to 20% energy saving.
• Automatic Shut Off - For safety and peace of mind, the iron will switch off after 5 minutes if left on its soleplate or side, and 8 minutes if left on its heel.

Summary

From the above it's evident that the Tefal Smart Protect Iron is a powerful and convenient steam iron. We particularly like its automatic temperature setter, and also its high steam output and boost.
