The Philips PerfectCare Elite Silence Steam Generator Iron is a black and purple powerful steam generating iron with a quiet steam. Its most significant feature is OptimalTEMP which causes it to automatically adjust its temperature, meaning you no longer have to sort laundry, and can instead focus on getting your laundry pile down. Philips guarantee that the iron will not cause burns.

From a numbers perspective, the iron is capable of operating at 150g of steam per minute, with a boost of 500g per minute. The pressure pump operates at 7.5 bar. Such a large steam output and high pressure allows the iron to work on multiple layers and also thicker fabrics such as denim. When switched on, the iron will take 2 minutes to heat up. It has an ionic soleplate (underneath) which is scratch resistant and also enables a smooth glide.

• Kills Up To 99.9% of Bacteria - An external body tested the iron's bacteria killing capability and found that it can reduce bacteria by up to 99.9% after a 1 minute steam. The bacteria tested were Escherichia coli 8099, Staphylococcus aureus. ATCC 6538 and Candida albicans ATCC 10231.
